The Christmas season is filled with such excitement and anticipation. Each year celebrating the birth of the Christ child is a reminder of the grace of God being with us, bringing hope, peace, joy, and love into the world.
But for many of us, the Advent and Christmas season is difficult. Some families are experiencing the holiday season while continuing to grieve the loss of a loved one. Other people must adjust to job loss or strained relationships. And, due to COVID-19, it is a season that may not allow some families to gather together.
In all things, the truth of Christmas is Emmanuel – God with us. In the midst of grief, you are not alone, for God is with you. There is hope and encouragement in the light that has come into the world at Christmas.
Haymarket Baptist Church will host a Service of Hope and Remembrance on Sunday evening, December 20, at 5 PM. Recognizing that the holiday season can be particularly difficult for those experiencing grief, this service is an opportunity to remember what has been lost and seek comfort in the grace and peace of Christ.
The service will be available both In-Person and via Livestream on the Haymarket Baptist Church Youtube page –
It can also be found on the Haymarket Baptist Church website on the Sermons page.

In addition, there will be a time of guided reflection and prayer during the service. In these moments, participants are invited to personally reflect on the many emotions of the season and seek the light of Christ. Materials for the guided reflection and prayer are available at Haymarket Baptist Church on Sunday morning during our regular worship time.
If you would like to watch this YouTube at a later time, the materials will be available for pick-up next week on Monday or Tuesday, December 21 or 22, during the regular business hours 9:15 a.m.-2:15 p.m.
