Hyo Lee was born in South Korea to a mother and grandmother who were Christians. He attended Yonsei University which was founded by two American missionaries in 1885. Upon completion of his B.A. in Theology, and completing his military service as an officer (ROK Army), he continued his theological studies at McCormick Theological Seminary, Chicago, Illinois (M.Div.) and at Vanderbilt University Graduate School (Ph.D. in New Testament). He taught at Shenandoah University for seven years. As an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church, he served local churches in Huntsville, AL; McLean, VA; Rocky Mount, VA; Winchester, VA; and is currently serving Sudley U.M.C. in Manassas, Va. He is married to Kay Lee who is a registered nurse. They have two children, Joshua and Sophia, who are working in D.C. and Gainesville.
