About twenty-five years ago, my late wife, Mary Lou, and I moved our membership to Haymarket Baptist Church. It was a hot July Sunday and there were only about 30 members in the sanctuary that day. We were most warmly greeted by four members of that group: Tommy Robinson, Ruby Nichols, and Bill & Frances Crisp, as well as by the interim pastor, Dr. Dallas Stallings. From that moment, we both knew this is where the Lord had led us.

Because this has been such a rewarding journey in our spiritual growth in serving the Lord with this family of Christians, I have established an endowment, “The Mary Lou Vail Endowment for Haymarket Baptist Church Music Ministry” in memory of Mary Lou, to help support the HBC music ministry. It is made through and managed by the Virginia Baptist Foundation.

This endowment is made in perpetuity and will never go away. It will only grow and the proceeds from that growth can only be used to help financially support the church’s music ministry.

Pastor Mark Olson has been named the Donor Advisor of this endowment and he will be able to answer any questions you may have.

If you wish to honor or memorialize a family member, friend or loved one by making a contribution in their name to the Mary Lou Vail Endowment you would send your “gift” directly to the Virginia Baptist Foundation at the following address:

In Christ’s love,
Jim Vail
