I’m New
What to Expect
When you visit Haymarket Baptist Church you will find a friendly congregation of Christians who love to gather and worship God each Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. Many of us also meet for Bible Study classes at 9:30 a.m. Wear whatever feels comfortable—some of us dress up for church while others dress more casually. We will be glad to welcome you however you are dressed.
Where is the church located?
We are located at 10800 Washington St. in downtown Haymarket, about 2 minutes from either exit 43 or exit 40 on I-66. Look for the white church with a silver roof.
Where should I park?
We reserve 4 spaces for our guests each Sunday and they are located closest to Washington Street right at the entrance and exit from our parking lot. We also have six spaces reserved for handicapped parking near the front of our church building and next to Washington Street. We have additional handicapped parking along the side of the building near the easy access ramp.
Which door should I enter?
Come in either of the double glass doors, one facing the main section of our parking lot and the other at the corner of our education building facing Washington Street and near the six handicapped parking spaces. A greeter will welcome you as you enter and guide you to the right place.
What do Baptists believe?
Baptists base our understanding of the Christian faith on the authority of the Bible. We welcome all discussion about the correct ways to interpret different passages of the Bible, but always agree that the Bible is the final authority for all questions relating to our faith and conduct. Jesus Christ is always our guide as we interpret the Bible.
Do you allow women to take leadership roles?
Yes. We believe the Bible allows women to exercise leadership within the church and so we have ordained women as deacons and also as a Christian minister.
What kind of music will I hear?
We feature traditional hymns led by organ and piano but also sing some more contemporary Christian choruses and occasionally feature different instruments such as the violin. We welcome you to share your musical gifts with us.
