Meet our Staff

Senior Pastor

Dr. Mark Olson

Pastor Mark, as the children like to call him, was called to our church in 2017. He had previously served five other Baptist churches as Pastor or Senior Pastor. He believes that local churches are called to lead people to believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and to help Christians grow strong in the faith. Mark holds three degrees: a B.A. from Wake Forest University, an M. Div. from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Ph. D. in New Testament and Early Christianity from the University of Virginia. In addition to serving as a church pastor, he also taught religious studies at Sweet Briar College, Virginia Tech. He served as President of the John Leland Center for Theological Studies for ten years. He has authored three books about the New Testament, the most recent of which is Romans: The Letter that Changes Christian History.

Mark and his wife Linda have two grown daughters: Kristin, a Trial Attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington D.C. and Jaclyn, who earned a Master of Social Work degree from George Mason University and currently resides with her husband David, daughter Zoey and son Arlo in Sydney, Australia.
