THE 2022 SEASON OF ADVENT
Sunday, November 27 – Friday, December 24
Advent is a season where we, as a church, prepare to celebrate the birth of Christ.
It is a season of waiting, a reminder of how long God’s people waited for the Messiah to be born.
Advent begins on Sunday, November 27 and concludes on Christmas Eve, Saturday, December 24 with the arrival of Emmanuel (“God with us”).
Advent Devotional Books will be available in the church office before November 27.
As a congregation, Haymarket Baptist Church participates in Advent both in Sunday Worship and multiple service opportunities throughout the season.
Advent/Christmas Worship
Lighting of the Advent Wreath – Beginning with the first Sunday of Advent, November 27, we will light candles in worship each Sunday, corresponding with the Advent themes of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love, culminating with the lighting of the Christ candle on Christmas Eve, December 24.
White Christmas, Sunday, December 4 – While we continue to donate items to Jane’s pantry throughout November and December, we will celebrate the HBC tradition of White Christmas on Sunday, December 4. Please bring canned or boxed goods wrapped in white paper on that Sunday to bring forward during the worship service.
Mini-Cantata, Sunday, December 11 – A ‘Mini-Cantata’ will be a part of the worship service on Sunday, December 11. What a wonderful way to celebrate the Joy of Christ’s birth with the leadership of the HBC choir!
Christmas Eve Candlelight and Communion, Saturday, December 24 – Please join us for Christmas Eve worship at either of the services, held at 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
Christmas Day Worship, Sunday, December 25 at 11:00 AM – Please join us for a family-oriented worship service on Christmas Day.
